Description

Many families have a genuine desire to raise good and godly children, yet often become discouraged when simply taking their children to church regularly doesn’t seem to produce children who walk humbly with the Lord. According to recent statistics, merely raising our children within the church can often result in watching them wander from the truth as they reach adulthood. Yet it doesn’t have to be this way. There is hope.

Home Reformation offers practical steps to help families make homes places of Christ-centered discipleship. Author Adam Burrell draws from twenty plus years of family ministry, as well as personal experience from raising his seven children, as he seeks to equip parents to turn their homes into training grounds for Christ-like development. Within these pages you will find simple steps that can be easily assimilated into day-to-day life to help you train and disciple your families to godliness and create a more biblical home.

Endorsements

This work by Adam Burrell is the most holistic and practical guide to reforming marriage and family I have ever read. From a thoroughly biblical theology, he gives the reader a real plan to reform every aspect of their home life. He simply sets forth what the Bible says we should be doing and tells us how to do it.

—Paul Washer
Director of HeartCry Missionary Society

The family is critically important, and God himself placed a great priority upon the institution of family from the very beginning.  The world has deformed the family, and we stand in great need for the family to be reformed.  Adam Burrell does a good job of explaining how to put God at the center of your family and to worship him in such a way that reforms the family according to Scripture and glorifies God.

—Dr. Josh Buice
Pastor of Pray's Mill Baptist Church in Douglasville, GA and President of G3 Ministries

If you are looking for a top to bottom, soup to nuts vision for family life, this is it. It is simple and concise and faithful to the biblical vision. In Home Reformation: A Biblical and Practical Guide for the Christian Home, Adam Burrell gets to the point. He gives very practical, every day, boots on the ground wisdom. If families did what Adam is suggesting, we would have better families for our churches and our nation.

—Scott Brown
Pastor of Hope Baptist Church in Wake Forest, NC and Director of Churchandfamilylife.com

Here is a simple, pedestrian, down-to-earth introduction to the most important matters of life — family, marriage, and child training. Adam Burrell speaks your language, and brings the Word of God to bear on the most important questions of life . . . A good resource for families just starting out, or well on the journey.

—Kevin Swanson
Husband, Father, Pastor, and Director of Generations.org

More than 350 years ago the English Puritan Richard Baxter powerfully said, 'till you procure family reformation, some little religion there may be, here and there; but while it is confined to single persons, and is not promoted in families, it will not prosper, nor promise much future increase.' This is also clearly the burden of Adam Burrell for our generation as he brings us practical and biblical advice so that we too may strive to live all of life to God’s glory – yes, even behind the closed doors of our homes. In this challenging book, you will find many helpful nuggets of wisdom and advice to chew on, pray over, and hopefully implement, as you seek to follow God’s prescribed pattern for a healthy and Christ-like home.

—David Woollin
Pastor of Grace Immanuel Reformed Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, MI

Adam Burrell has written a must-read primer for parents who are seeking guidance and practical advice on how to create a Christ-centered home where children are raised in a way that honors God, supplemented with a trail of practical nuggets to navigate the complexities of marriage and family life. As a committed husband, loving father and faithful pastor, Adam provides valuable pastoral insights, biblical wisdom, and practical tips on various aspects of parenting, communication, and maintaining a strong marital foundation. Whether you are newlyweds or married for years, this book will help you cultivate a godly atmosphere in your home and contribute to a fulfilling God-honoring marriage.

—Mario Maneville
Pastor of Reformed Faith Mission Community Church in Cape Town, South Africa

Home Reformation is an answer to the cry of many young families as they grapple with their God-given domestic duties. We are called to live our lives for the glory of God, to love our spouses, raise our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, and order our lives around the local church. Many young families learn about their duties as parents and spouses but don't know where to start. Adam writes with the simplicity of commentator Matthew Henry, yet with a unique depth that many young families will find helpful. If you have been wondering about your domestic duties or where to begin, Home Reformation is the right place. I highly recommend it and encourage you to share it with others; you will be doing them a great service.

—Mala Chindongo
Elder at Antioch Baptist Church in Blantyre, Malawi

Adam Burrell has provided a wonderful resource to help reform our homes to the glory of God. One does not have to agree with every single chapter to appreciate the concise, biblical wisdom he gives to practice in our homes. Highly recommended.

—Sean McGowan
Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, FL

Pastor Adam Burrell has written a book on the home that will help parents establish and function as a Christ-centered family that fulfills the mandates set forth by our Lord in the Scriptures. This book is practical, biblical, and thought provoking. It is filled with proven ideas he and his wife have used for several years. It reminds me of a toolbox where you can easily go to find the right tool for the task at just the right time. The chapters are “short and sweet” yet helpful, which most parents want in today’s world. Adam’s book is not theoretical but successfully followed in the Burrell home. Additionally, I believe newlyweds would begin their marriage with solid insights for a Christ-honoring family by using Home Reformation. I intend to recommend it to those I supervise in counseling training.

—David L. Birch
ACBC Counselor

Adam Burrell has written an amazingly readable pocket guidebook to help us have truly godly homes. He deals with topics pertinent to those contemplating marriage, the newlyweds, and those in the trenches of parenting. What I love about his approach is that he distills practical counsel from the Bible and applies it to topics that are relevant in today’s world for those going through this phase of life. You will find his topics well-chosen and his counsel judicious.

—Conrad Mbewe
Pastor of Kabwata Baptist Church and Founding Chancellor of the African Christian University in Lusaka, Zambia

This excellent book, Home Reformation, by Adam Burrell, has the marks of a good sermon. I began the book by wondering if I would agree with what was being said. I wondered if the teaching and application would be biblical or legalistic. But as with a good sermon, I soon forgot about the author and found myself contemplating the spiritual health of my own home. I felt conviction, but not the kind of conviction that leaves you feeling depressed and hopeless. It was the best type of conviction—a biblical conviction that gives you hope and provides direction for real-life improvement. This book sets forth a road map for something beautiful. And as with all good sermons, I left feeling grateful for it. I could simply say something positive about the book’s brevity and clarity, but the best commendation I can give is that I found this book very practical and beneficial.
